With the option of a rental car, driver/guide, or group tour, this round trip suits both independent travellers and those who prefer to be fully taken care of.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Thursday: Amsterdam › Muscat

Depart in the evening on a direct flight from Amsterdam to Muscat. After approximately seven hours of flying, you’ll arrive early in the morning.

Day 2 – Friday: Arrival Muscat • Snorkeling Excursion

Upon arrival, your rental car or driver will be ready, and you can head straight to your hotel.
Around 1:00 PM, depart for a snorkeling excursion to the Daymaniyat Islands. Snorkel among colorful fish, coral, and often turtles. Snacks and drinks are provided on board.

Overnight: Ramee Guestline Hotel

Day 3 – Saturday: Citytour Muscat

Your guide will pick you up for a full city tour of Muscat’s highlights:

  • Sultan Qaboos Mosque

  • Royal Opera House

  • Muttrah Souq and surrounding district

  • National Museum

  • Sultan’s Palace with the Portuguese forts (from the outside)

 

Tip: buy your picnic lunch today for tomorrow’s walk.

Day 4 – Sunday: Muscat › Wadi Shabb

Enjoy a stunning walk through Wadi Shab: palm oases, clear water, and rock formations provide a spectacular setting. Bring sturdy shoes, plenty of water, and swimwear.

Overnight: Tiwi Sunrise Hotel

Day 5 – Monday: Sur › Al Sharqiya Desert

In Sur, visit the Dhow Museum and enjoy a short cruise on a traditional dhow. Then continue to the desert, where sunset and a dinner under the stars await.

Overnight: Sama Al Areesh Desert Lodge

Day 6 – Tuesday: Al Sharqiya Desert › Jebel Al Akhdar

Travel to the Green Mountain, Jebel Al Akhdar. On the way, stop at Birkat Al Mouz and Falaj Al Khadmin (UNESCO).
On the mountain, take the Three Villages Walk, a varied hike through villages and green terraces.

Overnight: Hanging Terraces Lodge

Day 7 – Wednesday: Jebel Al Akhdar › Nizwa

Visit the impressive Across Ages Museum, then drive to Nizwa, the former capital, famous for its silverwork.
In the afternoon, explore the fort and the souq.

Overnight: Al Bustan Inn

Day 8 – Thursday: Nizwa & Surroundings

Visit Jabrin Castle, one of Oman’s most beautiful forts, and make a photo stop at the impressive Bahla Fort.

Overnight: Al Bustan Inn

Day 9 – Friday: Nizwa › Jebel Shams

Early morning, visit the famous Nizwa livestock market. Then travel to Jebel Shams, where you’ll hike the Balcony Walk along the edge of Oman’s Grand Canyon in the late afternoon.

Overnight: Jebel Shams Resort

Day 10 – Saturday: Jebel Shams › Muscat

Drive back to Muscat via the spectacular Hat Route, with photo stops including Snake Canyon. If time allows, visit Wakan Village for breathtaking views.

Overnight: Rozana Hotel

Day 11 – Sunday: Muscat › Amsterdam

Your round trip comes to an end. In the afternoon, fly back to Amsterdam, arriving early in the evening.
