A complete discovery journey through all of Oman. From the northern highlights, across the desert, to the stunning south of the country.
You’ll stay alternately in hotels and tents while travelling through a highly diverse landscape. Along the way, you’ll visit the most beautiful cultural and natural sites.
The trip is conducted with two 4x4 vehicles, with guides and drivers, but you can also choose a rented 4x4 with a rooftop tent. For those who prefer not to camp, the camping nights can be replaced with hotel stays.

Itinerary
Day 1 – Amsterdam-Muscat
Depart in the evening on a direct flight from Amsterdam to Muscat. After approximately 7 hours of flying, you’ll arrive early in the morning.
Day 2 – Muscat
Upon arrival, collect your rental car or be transferred by driver to your hotel. Your room will be available immediately. Around 1:00 PM, depart for a snorkeling excursion to the Daymaniyat Islands, where you’ll see colorful fish, coral, and turtles.

Day 3 – Discover Muscat

Day 4 – Muscat-Jebel Shams
Depart in a 4x4 towards the Hajar Mountains. Stop at Misfah Al Abreyin, a traditional mountain village with a Falaj irrigation system. Later, arrive at Jebel Shams, the “Mountain of the Sun.”
Overnight: Jebel Shams Resort
Day 5 – Balcony Walk and Nizwa
Morning Balcony Walk, a stunning hike along the edge of Oman’s Grand Canyon. Then drive to Nizwa, oasis town and former capital of the Omani Imamate. Visit Nizwa Fort and explore the town.
Overnight: Bustan Inn, Nizwa
Day 6 – Jabrin Castle and Across Ages Museum
Visit Jabrin Castle, a beautiful 17th-century fort, and learn about Oman’s architecture and history. Then visit the Across Ages Museum, a modern, interactive museum about the country.
Overnight: Bustan Inn, Nizwa
Day 7 – Nizwa-Al Sharquia Desert
Drive in the 4x4 to the Al Sharquia Desert, stopping in Ibra to visit the Women’s Market and old town ruins. Set up camp in the late afternoon and enjoy dinner under the stars.
Overnight: Camping or Sama Al Areesh Desert Lodge
Day 8 – Wadi Hawer
Adventurous day at Wadi Hawer, including scrambling, swimming, and abseiling. All necessary equipment provided on site.
Overnight: Sama Al Areesh Desert Lodge
Day 9 – Al Sharquia Sands – Al Khaluf
Stop at Sinaw fish market, then drive to Al Khaluf along pink shell beaches and rock formations. Opportunity to spot unique wildlife along the way.
Overnight: Camping or Sugar Dunes Resort
Day 10 – Al Khaluf – Ad Duqm
Drive along the rugged coastline with a stop at As Sirab, a fishing village. Arrival in Ad Duqm with time for a walk or a swim in the hotel pool.
Overnight: City Hotel Duqm
Day 11 – Ad Duqm-Thumrait
Drive inland to Thumrait at the edge of the Rub al Khali, the Empty Quarter. Stay in a simple hotel in Thumrait.
Day 12 – Thumrait-Empty Quarter
Visit the Ubar excavations, then traverse the dunes of the Empty Quarter to the campsite near Al Hashman.
Overnight: Camping or Arabian Sands Camp
Day 13 – Empty Quarter-Salalah
Drive from the desert to the Indian Ocean via the Qara Mountains. Visit Wadi Dawka (Frankincense Wadi) and the Al Baleed Archaeological Museum.
Overnight: Souly Beach Lodge, Salalah
Day 14 – Salalah
Relax and explore Salalah: banana and coconut plantations, Al Hafa Frankincense Souq, and fresh coconut water from fruit stalls.
Overnight: Souly Beach Lodge, Salalah
Day 15 – Salalah
Visit Khor Rohri, Wadi Hinni with Baobab trees, Point of Gravity, mausoleum of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Ali, and Taqah Castle.
Overnight: Souly Beach Lodge, Salalah
Day 16 – Salalah
Excursion to Mughsail Bay with cliffs and white beaches, and visit the tomb of the prophet Ayoub. Optionally enjoy fresh coconut water from a fruit stall.

Day 17 – Salalah
Free day to relax and enjoy the resort and surroundings.

Day 18 – Salalah-Muscat-Amsterdam
Return the rental car at Salalah airport and fly to Muscat. Continue your flight to Amsterdam, arriving around 6:30 PM.
