• Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque: One of the most impressive landmarks in Muscat. The large white-marble building stands out immediately. Inside, you’ll find the world’s largest carpet. Non-Muslims are welcome to visit, provided they dress respectfully. It’s a peaceful place to relax and gain insight into the local culture.

• Al Jalali and Al Mirani Forts: These historic forts along Muscat’s coastline provide insight into Oman’s rich history. Strategically positioned to overlook both the sea and the city, they offer a clear view of the defensive structures of the past.

It’s a bit busier, but convenient if you want to be close to everything. If you prefer more tranquillity and proximity to the sea, Qurum is ideal. This district offers a quieter atmosphere, with beautiful parks and a promenade along the beach — perfect for a stroll. Then there’s Al Mouj, a more modern area with luxury hotels and a scenic marina, perfect for a relaxing stay with stunning sea views.

Since May 2025, there are direct flights from Amsterdam Schiphol to Muscat, Oman. Flights depart in the evening on Thursdays and Sundays, arriving in the heart of Muscat the following morning.
